For most bath, body and beauty products, it is often essential to have a waterproof label due to the environment that they will be used in (the shower). However, it is important to consider the amount of direct water exposure that your product might have as there are varying degrees of water-resistant materials.
Labels that will be constantly exposed to water, such as shampoo labels and conditioner labels, will need a much stronger waterproof material than a product that has minimal water contact, such as a bottle of wine that’s chilled on ice before consumption. Why is it important to take this into consideration? Well, a waterproof material will look different and cost more than a water-resistant material as they have been manufactured to withstand different levels of wetness.
In addition to waterproof materials, it is also important to consider a ‘squeezable’ material for products such as shampoo labels and conditioner labels as not all waterproof materials have this feature.
